Orpheus, wanted to bring her out of the underworld. He was permitted to by Hades, as long as he did not look backwards or turn his head around. He failed to carry out the one rule and his wife had to remain in the underworld.

My Fair Lady
![Picture](/uploads/4/3/9/2/43926217/2952097.jpg?250)
One of the most famous Broadway shows, My Fair Lady, was also inspired by Greek Mythology. The script was taken from the play Pygmalion, by George Bernard Shaw. Shaw had based Pygmalion off the story of Pygmalion and Galatea, told by the writer, Ovid. In the tale, Pygmalion was a sculptor who fell in love with a statue he created, and wished she came to life. Aphrodite fulfilled his wish and the statue becomes a woman named Galatea, who marries him. In both versions, Shaw's play and the Broadway musical, Professor Henry Higgins turns Eliza Doolittle, an uncultured woman off the streets, into a proper and well mannered one, and later falls in love with her.
